The MM Family

Adopted in May 2008

We adopted David (Jiang Xue Bai) in May 2008 at the age of 15 months.  He was in foster care from the time he was 6 months old until his adoption.  We met him for the first time in the Civil Affairs office in Chongqing.  He cried at first, especially when we told him we were "mama" and "baba," but he let us feed him Cheerios and fell asleep in my husband's arms on the way back to the hotel.  Since then, his transition really has been seamless.

It is obvious to us that he received excellent care and was loved very deeply by his foster family because he came to us such a happy, healthy boy.  From very early on, he was extremely social.  He seeks out other children.  He gives hugs and kisses.  He loves playing games like peek-a-boo, and he even pretends to sneeze to get us to laugh.  He is truly a joy.

We are forever grateful to those who cared for David before he came home with us.  I know their love made it easier for him to adjust to life with us.
